Backgroud: Ovarian cancer is one of common gynecologic malignancies. The early diagnosis has rarely been made until it reaches the advanced stage. The mortality of ovarian cancer is higher than the total mortality of the carcinoma of cervix and uterine body, its five-year survival rate is less than 30%. Diagnosis at early stage, Radical mastectomy, cytoreductive surgery and systemic chemotherapy can prolong the survival time of ovarian cancer patients. The chemotherapeutic regiment composed by Taxane and Platinum drugs is the standard regimen applied to ovarian cancer. Objective:TP program compared with other platinum-based chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, radical surgery or cytoreductive surgery (residual tumor diameter <1cm) after the disease-free survival in patients (DFS) of whether there are differences; comparison programs with other platinum TP without surgery, chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer patients in time to tumor progression (TTP) of whether there are differences. Methods:By using retrospective research methods, we analyzed the short-term effects of chemotherapeutic drugs applied to patients. The objects of study included 81 patients admitted to Oncology and Gynecology at the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from Jan., 2004 to Oct., 2010, which was divided into 2 groups:1. Resection of ovarian cancer or cytoreductive surgery group without chemotherapy before surgery, which was divided into 2 subgroups after surgery, one was given with TP regimen, another was given with other platinum-based regimens, compile the information of DFS of the 2 subgroups. 2. Systematic chemotherapeutic group without surgery, which divided into two subgroups, one was given with TP regimen, another was given with other platinum-based regimens, compile the information of TTP of the 2 subgroups. Statistical analysis: Kaplan-Meier method was to analyze the variables, log-rank-test was used to compare the differences. P <0.05 indicated statistically significant difference. SPSS16.0 software was used to analyze the data.Results:1. In 81 cases of ovarian cancer, 35 cases with line ovarian cancer radical surgery or cytoreductive surgery (43.21%): 13 cases underwent TP chemotherapeutic regimen after surgery, 22 cases underwent other platinum-based regimens. 46 cases without surgery: 34 cases underwent TP regimen, 12 cases underwent other platinum-based regimens.2. The median DFS of patients undergoing TP regimen after line ovarian cancer radical surgery or cytoreductive surgery was 30 months, while the median DFS of patients undergoing other platinum-based regimens was 37 months. Analyzed by Kaplan-Meier methods, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P=0.274,P>0.05).3. The median TTP of patients undergoing TP regimen but without surgery was 25 months, the median TTP of those undergoing other platinum-based regimens was 5 months, there was no significant difference between the two groups by the analysis of Kaplan-Meier methods (P=0.014,P<0.05).Conclusions:1. TP regimen applied to patients with resection of ovarian cancer or cytoreductive surgery was not superior to other platinum-based regimens, which could not prolong DFS of patients.2. TP regimen applied to patients without surgery was superior to other platinum-based regimens, which could prolong TTP of patients markedly.
