Objective:To study the biocompatibility of the Ultrapro Lightweight Mesh in rats' model, and compared the biocompatibility of the UPP mesh with the PP mesh in various levels. And strong experimental evidence will be provided for its clinical use.Methods:Ninety SD rats were randomly divided into two groups:the UPP group and the PP group; then the UPP mesh and PP mesh were implanted subcutaneously in rats. In the 28 days,56 days,84 days after the surgery, to analyze the inflammatory response histologically. Mesh's tensile strength, shrinkage levels, inflammatory reaction, and the ratio of proliferation and apoptosis on the contact surface were all included in the study.Results:1. Compared with the PP mesh, the UPP mesh has lower tensile strength.2. The shrinkage of the UPP mesh is lower than that of PP mesh.3. The absorbable material of the UPP mesh could be absorbed in 56 days after surgery, and 84 days all were absorbed.4. Two meshes both show a slight foreign body inflammatory response, including macrophages and foreign body cell proliferation. However, compared with the PP group, the level of foreign body reaction and fibrosis in UPP group was mild.5. Throughout the experimental period, the apoptosis rate on the contact surface in the UPP group was significantly lower than that in the PP group. But there is no significant difference in the proliferation rate.Conclusion:1. The physical properties of the UPP Mesh is more in line with human physiological needs.2. The UPP mesh is better than the PP mesh in biocompatibility3. Overall, the UPP mesh is better than the PP mesh in biocompatibility, with a significant feature in all aspects, and it is expected to be an ideal repair material.
