Objective:We approach to vagotomy and nicotine pretreatment in rats of SIRS by copying the "two-hit" model, and it provides the new idea of clinical treatment.Methods:40 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups of 10 each. The control group were not handled 7d before induction of SIRS.The unilateral cervical vagotomy group:they were cut off the right vagus nerve 7d before induction of SIRS.The nicotine pretreatment group:they were given nicotine liquid 5mg.kg-lip everyday 7d before induction of SIRS.The combination of vagotomy and nicotine pretreatment:they were treated with vagotomy and nicotine pretreatment 7d before induction of SIRS. The abdominal incision the neck was used to exposed Unilateral vagotomy by cutting off the right side of the neck of vagus nerve trunk. When modeling anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection to produce "two hits" (shock and intraperitoneal injection of LPS) animal model. Collection of blood specimens or detection of the associated organs. Treatment results were statistically analyzed to compare four groups of rats with TNF-a, IL-6 levels; peripheral white blood cell count and classification; blood chemistry and lung, liver, kidney pathological changes. Results:Vagotomy can increase inflammation and aggravate the damage vital organs in rats. Nicotine pretreatment can relieve inflammation, and it can protect the important organ. The inflammation and damage of tissue were between group B and C after combination of vagotomy and nicotine pretreatment, and remained statistically significant compared with the control group. Conclusion:Central nervous system can regulate inflammation through parasympathetic pathway.Nicotin plays the effective of anti-inflammatory and protective the important organs, which does not depend on the integrity of the vagus nerve function independently.
