Effect Of Enteral Nutrition Support On Health Status And Defecation After PPH On Old Patients

Objective: To observe the effect of enteral nutrition support after PPH.Methods: 30 old patients with hemorrhoids, rectocele, rectal mucosal prolapse were selected during 2010 and 2011from a certain hospital . They were randomly divided into two groups , Intravenous rehydration and oral enteral nutrition group. Enteral nutrition choices Nutrison (Nutrison Nutricia Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), as an integral proteins, is a kind of Uncomponent Based Enteral Nutrition with better palatability and low residue. Preoperative routine dedection including prealbumin, albumin, hemoglobin and other nutritional indicators were collected .Those indicators would be compared with postoperative ones to see if there are changes. At the same time, patients were observed 3 days postoperatively of defection times and first defection time to see if there are differences.Results: the nutritional status with EN were significantly better than the nutritional status of patients with Intravenous rehydration. The indicators as PA, LYC had no differences around operation with EN(p>0.05), but they had significant difference with TPN(p<0.01); The indicators as ALB, HGB had no difference around the operation in both teams, and the 3 days postoperatively of defection times and first defection time had no difference also.Concludtion: Nutrison to some extent meet the nutritional needs of old patients, it has no significant effect on defecation. Oral Nutrison for PPH patients after operation as an alternative diet is a safe, economical, simple and effective method.
