Background and purpose:scaphoid bone fracture occupies of 6% of total body fractures, and 60%~70% of carpal bones1[1,2], scaphoid bone is a bridge between two rows of carpal bones, scaphoid fracture is a disaster to activity and stability of the wrist, if the treatment is not promptly or incorrectly,carpal instability, chronic pain, traumatic arthritis, delayed union, nonunion or bone necrosis will be resulted in, it will seriously affecting the patient's dailylife, so, the promptly and efficiently treatment of scaphoid fracture is indispensable. Because the anatomy and blood supply of the scaphoid bone is special, delayed healing and disunion is easilily occured, although much methods were used to prevent this procedure, it is still hard to success. Much function losted after treatment is also due to the complicated anatomy around the scaphoid bone.Many disunioned scaphoid bone are treated by bone pedicled which cohered by recurrent branch of radial artery. This subject is to summarize the therapeutic effects of this treatment,meanwhile, to observe the function of wrist after use the XUNXI formula.Methods:From October 2007 to December 2010 use "mini Ti screw and bone pedicled which cohered by recurrent branch of radial artery" to treat 41 patients of old scaphoid fracture.26 patients were males while 15 females; patients aged 16-43 years, and 27.3±4.5 years on average; all the patients experienced 6-22 months with an average of 11 months before surgery; the patients followed-up by 4-15 months with 8.3±2.4 on average. All patients'wrist function (strength, activity, pain) are evaluated by krimmer scoring system, the levels of bone healing were observed during follow-up time.1.5 months after surgery give the drug (same package but different components) to patients and told them the usage. Divided the 35 patients which accept the course of treatment into two groups (XUNXI formula group and control group), the patients in group of XUNXI formula wash their operate area with XUNXI formula preparation (applied by dispensary for outpatients), while the patients in control group washed by excipient. During the therapeutic session,all patients did effective functional exercise. Three months after surgery, measure the 35 patients wrist strength, activity and pain. Scoreed them by krimmer scoring system.Results:①All scaphoid bones complete healing.According to the wrist function scores system, there is a significance difference (P<0.01) between Preoperate and 1.5 months after surgery.②The general information(cases, sex, average age, course of disease) between XUNXI formula group and control group is not remarkable (P> 0.05), not only before give the drug, but after the patients use the drug.③The score of wrist function is not remarkable(P> 0.05) between XUNXI formula group and control group when the patients not used the praeparatum,but the distinction is remarkable (P<0.01) after the patients use the praeparatum.Conclusion:"inserted by bone pedicled which cohered by recurrent branch of radial artery and fixed by mini Ti screw " is an effective, scientific and high clinical value method to treat nonunion of scaphoid fracture,the results of this operation is identify. To improve the functional of wrist, XUNXI formula is not only efficient,but cheap. So, the XUNXI formula is worthy to be used widely.
