objective: To identify the expression of DOG1 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST) and to explore its potential association with clinical features of GIST. Methods:Two tissue micro arrays(TMA)were used for the study, each TMA contained 80 cases GIST from 80 different patients, with each tumor represented by one core. Immunohistochemistry staining (SABC method) were performed on TMA to detected the expression of c-Kit(CD117) and DOG1。Results:Immunohistochemistry showed that in 80 cases ,76 cases GIST were DOG1 positive and 67 cases were CD117 positive , the positive rate of DOG1 was 95% and the that of CD117 was 83.75%. The positive rate of DOG1 is higher than that of CD117(P<0.05).In 13 cases of CD117 negative GIST, the positive rate of DOG1 is 100%。Among different pathological type of GIST, in the spindle cell GIST and mixed cell GIST,the expressions of DOG1 and CD117 are almost the same.(P>0.05),but in the epithelioid cell type, the expression of DOG1 is higher than CD117(P<0.05).The positive expression of DOG1 and CD117 had no significant association with the age and the gender of the patients, and also had no significant association with the location and the risk stratification of the tumors.(P>0.05)。Conclusions:DOG1 had a high expression in gastrointestinal stromal tumors, especially in epithelioid cell GIST, and can be used as a new marker in the diagnosis of GIST hopefully..
