Nowadays, people often encounter some uncontrollable thoughts during sleep at night because of strong work stress and fast pace of life. These thoughts are called as uncontrollable cognitive activity in cognitive science. It makes one thirds of adults to face more or less problem of insomnia. This is harmful to their health and affects their work.Currently, people mainly use drug to inhibit these uncontrollable cognitive activity. Although drug is effective in short time, but people may get dependency if they use drug in a long time, drug is also not good for health, and the effecting of drug may descend. Therefore, people hope to inhibit uncontrollable cognitive activity through cognitive method.In the previous research, researchers try to use self-controlled cognitive activity, such as mental arithmetic, iron control and imagery, to shift the attention of uncontrollable cognitive activity, to disturb the uncontrollable cognitive activity, and to solve the problem of falling asleep. But the results show that this method has fundamental limits:①The self-controlled cognitive activity is a burden in the stage of falling asleep, and this type of cognitive activity may cause insomnia. So the results are not predictive.②The results of different people may be reverse if they use same cognitive activity. So no self-controlled mode is universally applicable.③It is hard to detect the brain process caused by self-controlled cognitive activity. Therefore, they can not evaluate the effecting of inhibiting the uncontrollable cognitive activity.In recent research, some researchers begin to use the cognitive activity caused by computer-controlled stimulation to replace the self-controlled cognitive activity. But, the computer can not control the transition process adaptively according to the current brain state, because of lacking of the knowledge of sleep transition process. Therefore, the computer-controlled cognitive activity has the same limits as to the self-controlled cognitive activity.In our research, we developed a portable sleep monitoring device, measured the parameters of brain states in sleep transition process, and defined different brain states. We programmed the adaptive function for the device according to different brain states, and we verified its affecting through experiment. The results showed that their sleep latency were markedly shortened whether good sleeps or patients with insomnia. This shows that the cognitive activity caused by adaptive stimulations can inhibit uncontrollable cognitive activity and shorten persons'sleep latency...
