More urgent requirement that bioactive materials can be applied to human living activities has been brought about with the enhancement of living standard. In this work, a sort of bioactive material with excellent biocompatibility was investigated, which is suitable for human-body application based on its properties of physics and chemistry. This material not only has no harm to human body but also can promote renewable repairing of human organization. The preparation of bioactive macor was achieved by high temperature melting method with once sintering, and it was investigated through advanced measurement techniques, such as XRD, SEM, etc. Experimental results show that the principal crystalline phase of this bioactive macor belongs to hydroxyl calcium phosphate, which has excellent biocompatibility and uniform round particles. The introduction of the Zn2+and Ag+ions enhances the effect of bioactive macor on the inhibition of oral bacteria and sterilization. Meanwhile, the introduced Sr2+ ion improves the hardness to the bioactive macor. As the main components of human body skeleton, the prepared bioactive macor with hydroxyl calcium phosphate as its principal crystalline phase is an ideal bioactive material. It has the advantages of both glass and ceramic. No research reports as the same have been seen at home and abroad. The achievement in this work has been applied for the national patent of invention, which has laid a solid foundation for further development of bioactive macor material.
