Clinical Research To Assess The Efficacy Of Dualight Targeted Phototherapy System Combined With Kang Bai Ling Cream In The Treatment Of Vitiligo By Computer Digital Image Analysis

Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of the Dualight targeted phototherapy system combined with Kang Bai Ling Cream by computer digital image analysis in the treatment of vitiligo.Methods:62 patients with vitiligo were radomly divided into 3 groups.20 cases with 36 patches were treated with Kang Bai Ling Cream twice a day for 8 weeks, and 20 cases with 35 patches were treated with UVB of Dualight targeted phototherapy system twice a week for 8 weeks, and the other 22 cases with 32 patches were treated with UVB of Dualight targeted phototherapy system twice a week and Kang Bai Ling Cream twice a day for 8 weeks.All the patches were photographed and imitated before the treatment, and after the fourth, eighth, twelfth and the last treatment. The imitations were scaned into computer and the area of them were calculated by computer digital image analysis(CDIA). Meanwhile, the adverse effects were recorded.Results:After all the 8 weeks treatment, the total effective rate in combination group(88.26%)'was significantly higher than that(26.04%) in Kang Bai Ling group(P=0.000),and also significantly higher than that(61.54%) in Dualight Targeted group(P=0.033). For the reduced rate of lesion area after 4 weeks,6 weeks and 8 weeks,the combination group were better than the other two groups and UVB of Dualight group better than the Kang Bai Ling Cream group(P<0.01). For the total amount in the effective or markely effective patients,the combination group was lower than UVB of Dualight group(P<0.01). Under the influence of gender, age, duration, location, MED value, sunlight reaction type,differentiation, stage, etc,when it comes to the comparison of reduced rate of lesion area,there were no significant difference between UVB of Dualight group and combination group for the range of over 40 years old patients. No signicant differece were observed between UVB of Dualight group and Kang Bai Ling Cream group in typeⅢpatients. Under other factors,there were significant differences among the three groups,with p<0.05 respectively For the reducd rate of the lesion area combination group was better than the other two groups,and UVB of Dualight group better than the Kang Bai Ling Cream group. In the combination group,the reducd rate in the hand and foot area were less than other area and advaced stage less than the stable(P<0.05).Adverse reactions of UVB of Dualight include erythema, blisters, dryness, scaling, itching or tingling symptoms on the lesion site as well as withdrawal for patients who can not tolerate.However no significant adverse reaction were observed in the Kang Bai Ling group.Conclusions:UVB of Dualight, a new light therapy of local tagarting treatment for vitiligo has the advangtages of high energy, good effect, direct effect on vitiligo lesions, irradtion on the surrounding normal skin,fewer side effects as well as good compliance. UVB of Dualight has some effect on the treatment of vitiligo while UVB of Dualight combined with Kang Bai Ling Cream is better than the use of UVB of Dualight or Kang Bai Ling Cream alone,which can also reduce the number of ultraviolet light and adverse events. The Dualight targeted phototherapy system and Kang Bai Ling Cream are effective and practical in the treatment of vitiligo without obvious adverse effects. Computer digital image analysis(CDIA) is good at assessing curative effect of vitiligo by calculating the area of patches accurately and avoid the error of subjective evaluation in a certain, therefore it is worth promoting in the clinic.
