Objective:To observe the clinical safety and effectivity of the Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription to treat the Syndrome qi and yin deficiency of NPC patients through the clinical study of Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription plus radiotherapy and chemotherapy. To provide a new approaches for the therapy of turmor, which combined the traditional Chinese and western medicine.Methods:60 cases of the patients with NPC in Tipi qi and yin deficiency.Dividing these cases into experimental group and control group stochastically, the two groups both have 30 cases. The experimental group was treated with Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription plus standard treatment, the control group with standard treatment. We observed the symptoms and objective sign to compare the marks between the pre-treatment and past-treatment,to evaluate the effectivity of TCM symptom.A questionnaire was designed according to EORTC QLQ-C30 and the related symptoms and side effects of NPC,to compare the marks of QOL between the groups on the time past-treatment.Examined MR of pharynx nasalis and cervix,CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+,Plasma D-dimer,Electrocardiogram,Live Function,Renal Function, stool routine pre-treatment and past-treatment, to evaluate the clinical safety and effectivity. After treatment,we divided the patients into CRF group and Non-CRF group according the Fatigue Scale,to evaluate the relationship of Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription and CRF.A statistical software package SPSS 13.0 was used, the results were analyzed statistically in t test andχ2 test. Results:There was not abnormal change during the period of treatment. All the targets were stabilize and all the patients had not harmful reaction. The accumulative mark of TCM symptoms had decreased after treatment, however, there was difference between groups on the mark after treatment(P<0.05).The total effectivity of TCM symptom was 83.3% in experimental group, while control group was 76.7%,however,there was not difference between them (P>0.05). In experimental group, the rate of decrease in plasma D-dimer was 95%,which is higher than control group, but there was not statistical significance.Indicators of T-cell subsets:CD4,CD8 positive cells percentage,CD4/CD8 ratio significantly increased, the difference was significant between the two groups(P<0.05).In experimental group and control group, the marks of affective cognitive domain were 14.10±2.28 and 15.87±2.45 (t=-2.894, P=0.005);and the marks of disease and treatment-related symptoms were 24.07±2.00 and 26.23±2.00 (t=-4.203, P=0.000);The marks were significantly different in xerostomia, appetite, vomit, lose weight(P<0.05).The total effectivity of nasopharyngeal focus all disappeared was 96.7%,which is higher than control group, but there was not statistical significance (P>0.05). As far as that of local lymph nodes was concerned, the difference was not reach statistical significance (P>0.05).The ratio of CRF was 81.7%,the rate of Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription plus standard treatment group was 36.7%,while standard treatment group was 63.3%,in Non-CRF group was 72.3% and 27.7%,there was significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription could improve the patient's immunologic function, relieve the symptom of Tipi qi and yin deficiency and some acute radiation injury, such as xerostomia, appetite, vomit, lose weight, reduce the ratio of CRF and enhance the quality of survival. It was not affect on descending the level of plasma D-dimer,boosting the efficiency of nasopharyngeal focus all disappeared, local lymph nodes all disappeared and the TCM symptom。The Yi Qi Yang Yin prescription was safe, effective and harmless in clinical application, it might provide a new approaches for the therapy of turmor, which combined the traditional Chinese and western medicine.
