ObjectiveTo investigate the phases corresponding to left ventricular end-diastole or end-systole for left ventricular function test of 64 row detectors spiral CT(64-MDCT) by using ECG-gated 64-MDCT angiography and to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of 64-MDCT left ventricular function examination by comparing cardiac function measured from 64-MDCT with what of ehocardiography(2DE).Methods100 cases (age range 32-83 years, mean 57±12 years;40 females,60 males) were randomly collected from August 2009 to September 2010 in First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University with suspected coronary heart diease and no failure of left ventricular systolic function in clinical. All patients were successfully underwent ECG-gated 64-MDCT coronary angiography and cardiac ehocardiography test. The both examinations of individual patient must be completed within 3 days. The way of ECG-gated 64-MDCT coronary angiography was timing bolus. The scanning coverd whole heart. After the scanning complated, Twenty series(0%-95% phases,5% interval) of thin images were reconstructed all over the full cardiac cycle from the original images and transferred to the post-processing workstaion. Then, the left ventricular volumne of each phase and function calculated by automatic cardiac function analysis software. All data were analyzed by statistical techniques. The results of left ventricular function measured by 64-MDCT were compared with echocardiography.ResultsThe phase to left ventricular end-diastole was 0% in 95 cases and 95% in 5 cases. The phase to left ventricular end-systole was 35% in 27 cases,40% in 56 cases and 45% in 17 cases.0% phase was located at the peak of ECG-QRS wave 35% phase was in the middle T wave 0% phase was located at the end of T wave. The left ventricular end-diastolic volume (EDV) measured by 64-MDCT was 151.76±31.33ml(89.20ml-306.00ml),left end-systolic volume(ESV) was 55.09±16.70 ml(25.30ml-105.70ml),stroke volume (SV) was 96.04±20.26ml(29.80ml-200.30ml), ejection fraction (EF) was 64.11±6.04%(50.20%-78.20%).The left EDV measured by echocardiography was 113.39±30.04ml(67.0Oml-223.00ml), ESV was 41.34±13.80 ml(21.00ml-87.00ml), SV was 71.43±19.20ml(33.00ml-125.00ml), EF was 64.15±5.40%(51.00%-79.00%).The let ventriculai function measured by 64-MDCT was strongly related to echocardiography, the correlation coefficients of EDV,ESV,SV and EF were 0.818, 0.745,0.706,0.647.EDV,ESV and EF obtained by 64-MDCT were higher than echocardiography, but EF was no appreciable difference between the two methods.ConclusionThe phase to left ventricular end-diastole obtainde by ECG-gated 64-MDCT coronary angiography was 0% and the phase to left ventricular end-systole was 35%-45%, especially 35% and 40% phase. The results of 64-MDCT cardiac function examination were accurate and credible. The test didn't increase X-ray exposure and dosage of contrast to coronary 64-MDCTA.
