ObjectiveTo clarify clinical significance of videonystagmography in the differential diagnosis of peripheral vertigo.MethodsOne-hunderd and twenty patients who suffer from peripheral vertigo were selected and ther healthy volunteers as a control group also accepted in this test for testing Infrared videonystagmography. The test involved the following parts: saccade test, eye tracking test, optokinetic nystagmus, spontaneous nystagmus, head shaking test, positional test, positing test and caloric test.ResultOf One-hunderd and twenty peripheral vertigo patients'VNG examination, showed eight persons'saccade test, seventeen persons'eye tracking test and seven persons'optokinetic test is abnormal,14 cases of spontaneous nystagmus and fifty-five cases of positional test.In Meniere disease, thrity abnormal of caloric test, four cases abnormal of caloric test in BPPV, vestibular neuritis with five cases and seven cases in sudden deafness with vertigo.Normal persons'VNG examination showed there persons'saccade test, six persons'eye tracking test and two persons'optokinetic test is abnormal, without spontaneous nystagmus, without positional nystagmu, only one person with abnormal caloric test.Conclusion1. Quantitative test of visuo-oculomotor system had no significant difference between the patients of peripheral vertigo and normal persons.,but is benefit to identify peripheral vertigo and central vertigo.2. Different types of peripheral vertigo has its corresponding Infrared VNG test results. Videonystagmography is a important test of vestibular function In the differential diagnosis of peripheral vertigo. |
