Objectives: To study the rule of TCM syndrome types distribution in CKD1-3 is in order to provide scientific and objective basis for making TCM syndrome differentiation and guiding clinical prophylaxis and treatment. Methods: Collecting patients'data by on-the-spot survey form, processing general information with description analysis and information of symptoms and signs with cluster analysis, differentiating syndrome types in according to diagnosis criteria of TCM syndrome type, to study CKD1-3's main syndrome types, the characteristic of each type and their distribution law. Results: There are 134 cases selected for this study. The most popular ten symptoms appeare to be ache and weak at waist and knee, dropsy, fatigue, flatulence, chill, cold extremities, asitia, lumbago, lack of qi and no desire to speak, spontaneous perspiration, nocturia increased. The symptoms are classified into six types by cluster analysis. They are deficiency of yin, blood stasis,spleen-kidney yang deficiency, spleen yang deficiency, damp turbidity and kidney qi deficiency. The cases are classified into seven types by cluster analysis. They are spleen-kidney yang deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity,spleen-kidney qi deficiency syndrome with blood stasis,qi and yin deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity, yin and yang deficiency syndrome with blood stasis, spleen-kidney qi deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity, spleen-kidney yang deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity and blood stasis, liver-kidney yin deficiency syndrome with blood stasis. Conclusion: Most of TCM symptoms in CKD1-3 belong to spleen-kidney yang deficiency and spleen-kidney qi deficiency. Expression of asthenia syndrome is obviously more than sthenia syndrome.Which present most frequently are spleen-kidney yang deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity, spleen-kidney qi deficiency syndrome with blood stasis and qi and yin deficiency syndrome with damp turbidity. Which least presents is liver-kidney yin deficiency syndrome with blood stasis. Most of TCM syndrome differentiation types in CKD1-3 are deficiency of Ben and repletion of Biao.Syndrome of deficiency Ben mainly include spleen-kidney yang deficiency syndrome and spleen-kidney qi deficiency syndrome. Syndrome of repletion Biao mainly include damp turbidity and blood stasis.
