Objective To analyze the results of treatment of Vancouver type-B2\B3 periprosthetic femoral fractures after total hip arthroplasty using long stem uncemented femoral prostheses. Methods 12 cases treated for Vancouver type-B2\B3 periprosthetic femoral fractures after total hip arthroplasty undergone revision with a long stem uncemented femoral prostheses plus allograft cortical strut bone. The content followed-up including many aspects, such as function evaluated by Harris scores and X-rays of hipsResult 12 cases were followed up for 10-32 months. All cases obtained successful fracture heal, and there were no stem loosening, infection and fracture. The hip functions were evaluated by Harris score, the mean Harris score was 87.83, excellent (> 90) in 6 cases, good (80-89) in 6 cases, no fair and poor (< 80). The rate of excellent and good was 100 percents. Conclusion Using long stem uncemented femoral prostheses with allograft cortical strut bone to treat a Vancouver type-B2\B3 periprosthetic femoral fractures after total hip arthroplasty is an effective method. But the final therapeutic effect for it should not be determined before long term and large amount of follow up study.
