Background Missed abortion refers to embryonic or fetal death and already occluded in uterine, who is not eduction spontaneous abortion is a kind of special type. The causes of missed abortion may be abnormal development of the zygote and/or maternal factors, one being due to chromosomal anomalies. As reported, maternal factors for missed abortion include uterine abnormalities, infection, abnormal antibodies for blood types, endocrine defects, chemicals and immunological factors. The studys show that the immune factors in the pathogenesis of missed abortion plays an important role recently, and in the immune factors about 75 % is due to blastocys implantation failure. Successful implantation is essential for the establishment of pregnancy. Implantation of the human blastocyst is a complex process involving the ovary, endometrium and embryo. Successful implantation requires a receptive endometrium and the ovary provides the hormonal stimulus for establishment of a successful pregnancy. Natural killer (NK) cells represent the most prominent immune cell type found in the uterus in the first trimester of human pregnancy, the role of NK cells in pregnancy is now becoming increasingly clear that they may influence pregnancy outcome at several levels. Amongst the integrin class of cell adhesion molecules, the avβ3 has been identified as a cell surface adhesion receptor, whose expression has been shown to be elevated in the endometrium at the time of implantation in humans. This study adopts flow cytometric analysis the expression of integrin avβ3 on CD56+CD16-and CD56+CD16+ NK cell of the peripheral blood and decidua in early pregnancy and missed abortion women. Objective To analysis the expression of integrin avP3 on CD56+CD16- and CD56+CD16+ NK cell of the peripheral blood and decidua in early pregnancy and missed abortion women.Method Peripheral blood samples were collected from early pregnant and missed abortion women, and decidual NK cell were isolated from the fresh decidua of early pregnant and missed abortion women by mechanical trituration and Ficoll gradient centrifugation. The fluorescent intensity of the integrines were detected by FCM.Results There are no statistically significant difference either in the percentages of CD56+CD16- NK cells or in the percentages of CD56+CD16+ NK cells between missed abortion and early pregnant women (P>0.05). Compared with early pregnancy women, the expression of a vβ3 on decidual CD56+CD16- NK cell of missed abortion women descend significantly (P<0.05), but there are no statistically significant difference in the expression of a vβ3 on decidual CD56+CD16+ NK cell between missed abortion and early pregnant women (P>0.05).Conclusion The abnormal expression of av(33 on decidual CD56+CD16"NK cell may be the immunity cause of missed abortion. There are no change either in the percentage of CD56+CD16- NK cells or in the percentages of CD56+CD16+ NK cells between missed abortion and early pregnant women...
