Objective:To investigate psychological characteristics of patients with cardiovascular disease and quality of life to provide the basis for psychotherapy.Methods:126 patients (case group) and 143 healthy persons(case control group) were assessed by self-command generalized information questionnaire, general self-efficacy scale (GSES), trait coping style questionnaire (TCSQ), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS) and Short Form-36 (SF-36). The quality of life was evaluated from the dimensions of physiological function (PF), role physical (RP), bodily pain (BP), general health (GH), vitality (VT), social function (SF), emotional role (RE), mental health (MH).Results:Compared with the case control group, the case group members had characteristics of increased age and BMI, and decreased physical activity(P<0.05). The scores of negative coping styles, anxiety and depression in case group were higher than that of case control group(P<0.05). The results of Principal Component Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that there was a significant positive association between age, BMI, anxiety, depression and cardiovascular disease(P<0.05). Negative coping styles were borderline significantly associated with cardiovascular disease(P=0.056). In the analysis of the quality of life we can conclude the scores of PF,RP,BP,GH,VT,SF,RE in case group were higher than that of case control group (P<0.05). MH of two groups was not significant different in scores (P>0.05). The results of Stepwise Logistic Regression analysis demonstrated that there was a positive association between age, BMI and cardiovascular diseases. RP, GH were negatively associated with cardiovascular diseases. Conclusion:Patients with cardiovascular disease have obvious anxiety and depression, tend to employ negative coping styles in frustration. Negative coping styles, anxiety, depression, age and BMI are risk factors of cardiovascular disease. Overall quality of life in patients with cardiovascular disease was significantly reduced. RP, GH was significantly impaired.
