The Clinical Research On Treating Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis By Means Of Combining Manual Physical Therapy And Night Used Orthotic Device For Scoliosis

Objective:The clinical research on treating adolescent idiopathic scoliosis by means of combining Manual Physical Therapy and Night used orthotic device for Scoliosis.Methods:All cases studied are chosen from patients of the bone department in Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine First Affiliated Hospital and No 211 Hospital of PLA, since January 2009 to January 2011. Forty patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis are randomly divided into treatment group and comparison group. Twenty patients in the treatment group are treated by both Manual Physical Therapy and night used orthotic device for Scoliosis; while, the other twenty patients in the comparison group are treated only by night used orthotic device for Scoliosis. All these forty patients in two groups are without distinct difference (P>0.05) and comparable, which is realized by statistics investigation on their age, sex and height, etc. Patients from both groups are treated by night used orthotic device for Scoliosis. The therapy methods adopted in the treatment group are composed of three steps, which are respectively muscle relaxing, side board rectification and rotating corrective therapy. After treatment, all the patients shall be reexamined by X-Ray test once in three months and assessed by SRS-22, and all the information about the reserved investigation target aim shall be collected. By doing statistics analysis through SPSS17.0, we may analyze whether there is any difference between the above mentioned two modes of therapy. Afterward, we may come to a final conclusion.Result:All cases are followed up. And it is found that patients in the treatment group are doing much better in correcting scoliosis, vertebral rotation and improve the quality of life and mental problems.Conclusion:To combine the Manual Physical Therapy and night used orthotic device for Scoliosis can achieve a better effect in treating the adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. It can not only guarantee the treatment effect, but also shorten the period that patients must wear the corrective brace. Therefore, all the possible bad effect or complication that may bring to patient's physical and mental health caused by treatment can be minimized.
