Objectives:1. To observe the comprehensive therapeutic effect of the hospital preparation "Guan Xin Ping", which embodies the TCM principle of tonifying Qi, nourishing Yin, invigorating Blood and removing phlegm, on CHD patients according to changes of clinical manifestations and ECG.2. To explore tentative mechanisms of "Guan Xin Ping" treating CHD by analyzing hs-CRP, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, Resistin, ABI and PWV.Methods:1.62 subjects—32 and 30 for the experimental and control group, respectively—Were randomly selected from out-patients and wards of Cardiovascular department of Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM. The control group was prescribed normalized CHD chem-drug plan, experimental group adding "Guan Xin Ping", both groups treating for 2 months. Clinical manifestations, results of ECG, hs-CRP, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, Resistin, ABI and PWV were recorded.2. Data were processed with SPSS 17.0. Descriptive statistical analysis:qualitative indexes were described in percentage, quantitative indexes in mean and standard deviation. In evaluating significance, the chi-square test was used for qualitative data and t-test for quantitative data.Results:1. On comprehensive therapeutic effect:both groups of subjects were observed improvement in general condition after treatment, of which the experimental group was more evident(P<0.05).2. On angina pectoris treating effect:alleviation of angina pectoris was evident in both groups(P<0.05), of which the experimental group was highly significant in statistics(P<0.01); compared with the control group, the experimental group was better(P<0.05).3. On TCM symptoms:the experimental group had each symptom ameliorated significantly(P<0.01), and all the symptoms, except insomnia(P>0.05), of the control group improved with statistical significance(P<0.01 or P<0.05); compared with the control group, the experimental group was better(P<0.05), particularly in symptoms of chest stuffiness, shortness of breath, fatigue, feebleness(P<0.01). 4. On ECG test:both groups of subjects were observed improvement in ECG, and the experimental group showed a higher general curative effect rate, though no statistical discrepancy between the two groups(P>0.05).5. On serum inflammatory markers:after two months of treatment, serum hs-CRP, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-a, Resistin of the experimental group decreased with statistical significance(P<0.05); the control group was found a descending trend in hs-CRP, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-a, Resistin, but with no statistical significance(P>0.05); the gap between the two groups was evident(P<0.05).6. On artery function tests ABI and PWV:PWV of the experimental group moved on a downtrend, while the control group went up, though both demonstrated no statistical significance compared with the initial values(P>0.05); the discrepancy between the two groups is evident(P<0.05). ABI of the experimental group showed an evident rising trend(P<0.05), while the control group fell with no statistical significance(P>0.05); the difference between the two groups showed statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusions:1. The therapeutic effect of the hospital preparation "Guan Xin Ping", which embodies the TCM principle of tonifying Qi, nourishing Yin, invigorating blood and removing phlegm, on CHD patients is positive.2. Down-regulating vaso-inflammatory factors and improving arteriosclerosis may be one of the tentative mechanisms of "Guan Xin Ping" treating CHD.
