The Literature Study Of Cupping Therapy On Advantage Diseases

Objective: This paper summarizes clinical applications of cupping therapy for diseases in past and present, then identifies spectrum diseases for cupping therapy, improves appropriate spectrum of patients with the clinical applications and cupping therapy, to improve further clinical work.Methods: This paper obtains the related literatures from "Chinese Medical Classics" by taking "corner", "tube", "pot" as key words, and from "China Knowledge Network" by "cupping" as key word respectively. Select modern literatures from 1980 to 2010. There are two methods in clinic treatment: cupping therapy only and in conjunction with other applications. All methods are classified into eight major diseases families including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, orthopedic and care regimen. Furthermore, the cases are stored into computer to create a database. And then analyzes the data, and draws the appropriate ancient disease spectrum of cupping therapy. According to the previous work, the paper compares present symptoms to past ones, and derives treatment patterns and trends. At the same time, advantages of integrated disease are obtained through the application efficiency and frequency of past and present methods.Results: The ancient literatures searched through "Chinese Medical Classics" by "corner" are 20664 times, "tube" 1920 times and "pot" 2461 times. Ultimately select 124 of them through the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There are 4494 modern articles through "China Knowledge Network" by "cupping" as key word search, finally related 2016 after exclusion.Conclusion: The symptoms of ancient cupping therapy appropriate were 79 kinds, individually and with the application of were 55 and 25 kinds respectively. Advantage diseases of the ancient disease cupping therapy were: carbuncle-abscess, carbuncle of the back, mammary abscess, sore and pyogenic infections, cerebral carbuncle, jaundice, miscellaneous diseases caused by cold-damp, head-wind, cellulitis on back and chest, and wool blast. The advantage disease subjects are of surgical ulcers families and internal medicine. There are 307 kinds of disease in modern cupping therapy application. 67 of them can be cured by cupping therapy alone and 249 of the disease cured by cupping therapy in combination with other therapy methods. The modern advantage diseases are: herpes zoster and remnant nerve pain, scapulohumeral periarthritis, acne, urticaria, cervical spondylosis, prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc, peripheral facial paralysis, Third lumbar vertebra transverse process syndrome, eczema, sciatica, gouty arthritis, neurodermitis, chloasma, mastitis, arthralgia zheng (Bi Syndrome), lumbago, knee joint pain, healing of infected wound in foot sole, muscle tissue fibritis, acute coryza, cough caused by exogenous pathogenic factor, wind cold syndrome. The Advantage diseases are skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases, bone and soft tissue diseases, injuries and certain consequences of trauma, neurological disorders, respiratory system diseases and pediatric diseases. Adaptive diseases kinds of cupping therapy are more and wider compared to the past.
