Objective:To study the clinical characteristics and outcome of eclampsia with normal Blood pressure (BP), compared with eclampsia with hypertension, in order to propose preventive measure.Methods:34 patients with eclampsia cases reported from January 2000 to December 2009 classified into two groups by with normal BP or hypertension were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical characteristics of eclampsia with normal BP was evaluated.Results:1. Compared between the two groups, age of patients has significant difference [(24.1±8.3) VS (28.8±5.6), P<0.05].2. There were 14 cases of first pregnant.19 cases of primipara,20 cases of single birth, 1 case of bigeminal,8 cases of regular antenatal examination,18 cases of antepartum eclampsia,3 cases of eclampsia postpartum,16 cases of complainting subjective symptom,15 cases of edema,16 cases of proteinuria,16 cases of hypocalcemia in the eclampsia with normal BP group. Compared to the eclampsia with hypertension group, none of them has significant difference(P>0.05).3. There were 5 cases of high blood viscosity in 16 cases in the eclampsia with normal BP group. 4. There were 3 cases that BP was higher at the moment before convulsion,8 cases that BP was higher when convulsion took place.8 cases that BP was higher after convulsion, and 2 cases that BP was normal all along in the eclampsia with normal BP group.17 patients'BP recoverd in 7 days after parturition, but another 4 patients' BP was still higer when they were discharged.5. There were 5 cases of fetal growth restriction,2 cases of fetal distress,6 cases of premature delivery,3 cases of neonatal asphyxia,4 cases of fetal death in the eclampsia with normal BP group. Compared to the eclampsia with hypertension group, outcome has no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusions:Eclampsia can happen in the pregnant women with normal BP, so BP is not the only one standard to value preeclampsia. The clinical characteristics and outcome of eclampsia with normal BP and hypertension are similar.
