OBJECTIVE To study the prognosis of severe viral B hepatitis with pulmonary infection on the hospital patients.METHODS Investigated and analyzed 60 hospitalized cases of severe viral B hepatitis in the First Affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University the School of Medicine during Dec.2009 to Dec.2010.RESULTS In 60 cases of severe viral B hepatitis,19 cases complicated with pulmonary infection, the rate of pulmonary infection was 31.7%, and the mortality of pulmonary infected patients was 78.9%, the mortality of no pulmonary infection patients was 51.2%, there were significant differences by test (P<0.05)。CONCLUSIONS Pulmonary infection is one of common complications in patients with severe viral B hepatitis. The mortality of severe viral B hepatitis patients with pulmonary infection is much higher than the patients without the pulmonary infection, and the pulmonary infection often causes the multiple organ failure of severe viral B hepatitis patients. The clinical physicians should be aware to pulmonary infection when they treat the patients with severe viral B hepatitis, and they should properly treat the pulmonary infection. The control of the pulmonary infection contributes to the improvement of the prognosis of the severe viral B hepatitis patients.
