In 1929, the Abolishing Chinese Medicine Case was raised by the Century Medical Committee of National Government, which brought tremendous influences in the circle of Chinese medicine. Although this case is not an official executive motion or law, it still made Chinese medicine nervous. In order not to be abolished, the circle of Chinese medicine take actions like organizing society, petition against the government to strive for survive, the case was not implemented in the end. During the procedures, the circle of Chinese medicine took actions of popularize the knowledge of Chinese medicine, strive for the space of survive. These efforts had made contribution in keeping and developing the Chinese medicine. Nevertheless, these efforts also led Chinese medicine get on the rhetoric of western medicine unconsciously.The dissertation determine to examine the efforts made by Shanghai Chinese Medicine circle to strive for survive of Chinese medicine, as well as analysis how the Chinese medicine get on the track of scientific. The dissertation was consisted by four parts. The PartⅠis mainly explore the origin of the dissertation. PartⅡmainly discusses the rift between Chinese and western medicine and the the Abolishing Chinese Medicine Case, emphasizing the history of the rift and the historic background of the Case. PartⅢ&Ⅳaddresses the strive for survive made by Shanghai Chinese medicine society, this part is also the highlight of the whole paper. PartⅤreviews the rift between Chinese and western medicine, in particular how the case was raised by the government.
