Objectives To build a non-drug dependence treatment model of type 2 diabetes by comparing the clinical variables between stop-drug and high-glycemia patients of type 2 diabetes. Methods Objects whose diabetes duration were more than 2 years were selected from diabetes-center database of second affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University, one group have stopped oral antidiabetes agents(OA) or never taked OA(HbA1c)≦7.0%), another group are taking more than one kind of OA (HbA1c≧ 9.0%). Variables of general, education, metabolism, isleticβcell function, microvascular disfunction of the two groups analysed by independent-samples t tests, while each group's datas of before and after treaments were analysed by paired-samples t test. Results The results of diabetes duration, education, follow-up times, metabolism, isletic (3 cell function and microvascular disfunction of the twe group were of significant difference(P<0.05-0.001). The body mass index(BMI) and HbA1c of the stop-drug group were much better than before(P<0.05-0.001), and itsβcell function also turned better(P/FCPR before2.93±1.41, after3.57±1.75, P=0.091). The blood pressure and the serum lipid of the two groups were both lower than before(P<0.05-0.001). Conclusion The indications of non-drug dependence treatment for type 2 diabetes possiblly were <10-years duration, reguler follow-up, higher education, shorter waistline, decreased glycemia, BP and serum lipid, normal level of fasting insulin secretion, postprandial/ fasting insulin ratio≧ 5 and postprandial/fasting C peptide ratio≧ 3.
