Objective:Observe the clinical effect of brook-sea point combination plus conventional acupuncture on acute facial neuritis, Explore the mech-anism of acupuncture therapy for facial neuritis to search for more effective treatment.Methods:The sixty cases of qualified outpatient were randomly divided into two groups:the treatment group (30 cases), treated with brook-sea point (ST44 and ST36) combination plus conventional acupuncture; while the control group (30 cases) only treated with conventional acupuncture. According to the House-Brackmann (H-B) facial nerve grading systems which were recommended by the fifth International Symposium of Facial Neurosurgery, the evaluation lasted four weeks.Results:The H-B scoring which is based on the symptoms between before and after treatment is significantly different in each group (P<0.01). The treatment group is better than the control(P<0.05). Within the group, the younger patients, short disease duration can get more satisfactory effect(P<0.05).The recovery rate of the treatment group is raised visibly(P <0.05).Conclusion:Using brook-sea point combination plus conventional acupuncture can improve the efficacy of facial neuritis, as well as reduce the sequelae. It also can improve the cure rate of facial neuritis.
