Studies On Changes Of Flavonoids Content Of Hawthorn Fruit During Storage And Their Antioxidant Activities

Abstract/Summary:
In our country, hawthorn has a long history of medicine and is important medicalmaterials in traditional Chinese medicine. Its flavor is sweet acid, tepid, with goodimproving digestion, decreasing food stasis, helping circulation and activating bloodstasis, tonifying the spleen and stomach.Recently, widely used in Cardiovascular andcerebrovascular disease and inflammation treatment. Flavonoids have obvious andgood function of regulating blood lipid health, scavenging free radicals, anticancer,antioxidant, antiviral and other physiological activity and pharmacology. At present,consisting mainly of natural plant medicine are increasingly important, study ofHawthorn flavonoids are of important theoretical and practical studies of value.In this paper,'Chang Kou','Da Jin Xing','Da Hong'hawthorn weresystematically studied on the content of phenolic substances and flavonoidscompounds, activity of metabolism related enzymes to monitor the metabolismchanges situation of flavonoids compounds extracted from hawthron fruit beingtreated by storage6months during normal (-3~15℃) and4℃temperature,antioxidant properties of hawthorn flavonoids extracted from diffrents parts of thefruit on reductive ability, metal ion chelating ability, DPPH free radical, hydroxylradicals and superoxide radical scavenging ability. The results showed that thecontent of phenolic substances and flavonoids, activity of PPO, POD, PAL had nosignificant difference no matter at room or4℃temperature in the process ofstorage;It is consistent between changes of activity of PPO, POD, PAL and changesof the content of phenolics and flavonoids. Overall, during the storage, the content ofhawthorn phenolics and flavoniods changed little, which explains long-term storagecould not significantly influence on the content of hawthorn phenolics andflavonoids,however, hawthorn dehydration and rotten degree was more serious innormal temperature storage process,so4℃temperature is more better to long-termstorge of hawthorn fruit. Flavonoids extracted from'Chang Kou','Da Jing Xing','DaHong' hawthorn also had strong antioxidant activity.Their ability of reductive, scavenging DPPH free radical and superoxide radical were significantly higher thansynthetic antioxidants BHT or Vc (p<0.01); their ability of chelating metal ion andhydroxyl radicals were similar to BHT.So we could make a conclusion that hawthornflavoniods could alternative artificial synthesis antioxidants as natural anti-oxidants.Based on the antioxidant activity of hawthorn flavonoids extracted from differentparts of the fruit were tested and compared, found that flavonoid antioxidants ofhawthorn core was particularly prominent, which provided certain scientific basis forfurther development and utilization of hawthorn kernel.
