| Gastrointestinal parasites of dogs are endemic diseases, the main clinicalsymptoms contain anemia, weight loss, anorexia and hypogenesis, which haveimpaired seriously on the dog healthy. Some gastrointestinal parasites of dogs wouldhave great harm to human health. Therefore, understanding the prevalence ofgastrointestinal parasites on dogs in districts of Fuzhou is conducive to help developeffective measures for the prevention and treatment of canine intestinal parasites, toreduce the infection rate of intestinal parasites of dogs, and to provide certainreference for clinical diagnosis of intestinal parasites of dogs.From March2009to October2010,526feces samples were collected from526dogs which are different species, different ages and different gender in Fuzhoudistricts including Fuqing and Minhou. Canine intestinal parasites were investigatedwith the feces samples by the methods of washing with water and precipitatingmethod, saturated salt solution floating method and zinc sulfate centrifugal flotationmethod. The results were as follows:1.6species of intestinal parasites have been observed. They are Toxocara canis,Ancylostoma coninum, Dipylidium conium, Taenia hydatigena, Isospora canis andClonorchis sinensis.2. Intestinal parasite infection rate is59.32%.3. The infection rates for every canine with parasite species are different.Infection rates of Toxocara canis, hookworm, Dipylidium caninum Taeniahydatigena, Isospora belli and Clonorchis sinensis were53.80%,22.62%,25.86%,47.91%,7.98%and2.09%, respectively.4.121cases were infected with two kinds of intestinal parasite synchronously,the rate was23%;98cases were infected with three kinds of intestinal parasitesynchronously, the rate was18.63%.5. Occurance of parasitic infection are different in ages, parasitic infection inpuppies was higher than that in adult dog; occurance of parasitic infection aredifferent in environments, parasitic infection of dogs rearing outdoors was higher thanthat indoors.6. No correlations were observed in the dog's species and gender in the intestinalparasitic infection.7. Effect of IVOMEC (1%ivermectin solution) on Toxocara canis was observed.The best result was obtained at the dose of0.5mg/kgBW subcutaneous injection for twotimes interval seven days. |
