Study On Patent Analysis Of Scrimber Technology

As the development of economic globalization, nations had made their patent strategies,aswell as patent rights protection system, and continuously improve their abilities of patentanalysis. U.S. patent analysis is mainly based on business model. By creating high value-addeddatabases and continuously strengthening the functions of the patent analysis software,American patent analysis companies have achieved the depth of the mining of patentinformation. Patent maps are widely used in Japan and Korea. Through the popularity of patentmaps and patent analysis software, they have improved their patent analysis abilities ofenterprises. Patent analysis have been researched by Chinese government departments,universities, companies and so on, many patent analysis report of the important fields ofindustry or product have been published.Patent analysis methods are based on bibliometrics, conducted with patent analysis tools,or knowledge of other disciplines. This paper describes six patent analysis methods, which arepatent map analysis, analysis based on patent combination theory, analysis based on technicalevolution, analysis based on social network, analysis based on Bradford law, extension analysismethod. Domestic and abroad patent analysis tools are compared, such as Aureka, ThomsonData Analyzer, Thomson Innovation, HIT, PatentEX, East Linden Doors. Ultimately, HIT isselected to analyze the patents of scrimber technology.Scrimber is made by fast growing wood or small diameter log or other low cost materials,it includes wood scrimber, bamboo scrimber and wood-bamboo scrimber. Through this paper,scrimber patents have been downloaded from the worldwide patent database of the EuropeanPatent Office, A global patent database(1976-2011) of scrimber has been built, the overall trendof global and Chinese scrimber patents has been analyzed, and important patents of scrimberenterprises have been listed. Furthermore, legal status in China and development law of kindsof scrimber patents both at home and abroad have been contrasted and analyzed. The analysis shows that, the scrimber patents lies in China, Japan,U.S.and Australia,China has a greater advantage in the patent of bamboo scrimber and wood-bamboo scrimber,but the patents are disperse. The technologies of wood scrimber and bamboo scrimber areexperiencing technical maturation around2010, a descending trend appears. Chinese patenteeshould focus on the later patent protection, and enhance the awareness of overseas patentlayout, establish technological innovation alliances, form a patent pool of the scrimberindustry.
