This work mainly deals with ectoparasitic tichodinids from freshwater fishes in the upperreaches of Yangtze River, Sichuan District. In the first section,20trichodinids including1new species and1first record of China were described. These trichodinids are listed as below:Trichodina pekinensis sp. nov., Trichodina kupermani Arthur&Lom,1984, Trichodinarectangli Chen et Hsieh,1964, Trichodina parasiluri Chen et Hsieh,1964, Trichodinaparanigra Tang, Zhao&Chen,2005, Trichodina uniforma Van AS&Basson,1989,Trichodina nobilis Chen,1963, Trichodina rostrata Kulmina,1968, Trichodina heterodentataDuncan,1977, Trichodina acuta Lom,1961, Trichodina mutabilis Kazubski&Migala,1968,Trichodina reticulata Hirschman&Partsch,1955, Trichodina kazubski Van As&Basson,1989, Trichodina matsu Basson&Van As,1994, Trichodina modesta Lom,1970, Trichodinalechriodentata Zhao&Tang,2007, Tripartiella macrosoma Basson&Van As,1987,Trichodinella epizootica (Rabbe,1950) Sramek-Husek,1953, Trichodinella subtilis (Lom,1959) Lom&Haldar,1977, Trichodinella carpi Duncan,1977. The morphological andtaxonomic research on tichodinids was according to observation of living body, menthylgreen-pyronin stain (Foissner,1991), dry silver impregnation technique. In section4, we also put away a detailed checklist and geographical distribution of morethan seventy species ectoparasitic trichodinids isolated from various hosts which werereported in China. These species of trichodinids were listed followed by hosts and localitions.Of these trichodinids,63species belong to Trichodina Ehrenberg,1838;3species belong toTrichodinella (Rabbe,1950) Sramek-Husek,1953;2species belong to Paratrichodina Lom,1963;5species belong to Tripartiella Lom,1959;1species belongs to Dipartiella Stein,1961.They are all listed respectively. The dissertation is aimed to add new data of parasitology of fish and provides some basicreference data for investigating pathogeny and healthy culture.
