Abstract/Summary:
Tibet locates at the Northern Hemisphere, and belongs to westerlies. It was named as "the top of theworld"; the climate in Tibet is very bad, especially the high altitude and oxygen insufficient. Tibet isan important passageway in southwest of China, moreover, it was given names that "the standpipe ofchina" and "the third pole of the world" because it is the source of many rivers which not only movedownwards to China but also move downwards to east and south Asia. The overload of livestock, lower output and decrease with year, and desertification of pastureland inTibet were the results of bad natural environment and managed in pillage for many years. The naturalpasturelands in Tibet have five characteristics, which are broad area, low output and vary in deferentdistrict, fine quality, high nutriment, seasonal utility and the lack of harvested natural pastureland. Many varieties of quality herbage in the world were low adaptability and difficult introductionbecause of the special geographical features and natural environment. Therefore, the presentexperiment took the wild Elymus dahuricus in Naqu as materials and took the Qinghai Elymusdahuricus as a comparison, investigated the features and production performance of the wild Elymusdahuricus, moreover, the current study did qualitative analysis for the wild Elymus dahuricus. The results showed that:1. After two years research, all of varieties of Elymus dahuricus came from Naqu and Qinghai cancomplete the whole growth circle in Dangxiong,80%of them could live through the winter andgrown over than130days.2. The rate of germinate showed that Baqing and Biru Elymus dahuricus were nearly70%(a littlehigher than Qinghai Elymus dahuricus) and the lowest was Anduo Elymus dahuricus (32.3%).The results illustrated that the germinate rate of wild Elymus dahuricus was very low and sometechnical methods need to be introduced to improve the germinate rate in practice.3. The amount of grass production were Naqu> Biru> Suxian> Baqing> Qinghai> Anduo> Jiali;the amount of seed production were Biru> Naqu> Baqing> Suoxian> Jiali> Anduo> Qinghai.4. The study suggested extension Naqu,Biru, Baqing and Suoxian Elymus during the ecologicalrefine of Tibetan pasture and seed production. Therefore, the varieties of Elymus dahuricus in Naqu, Biru, Baqing and Suoxian could be utilized andpopularized during the ecological recover of grassland and seed production of herbage.
