Fujian Tea Science Education Status Quo And Thinking

The production of tea in Fujian originated in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Fujian boasts of the widest variety of tea and the most marvelous techniques in tasting tea, which helps develop its special styles in tea drinking. Although Dynasties change as time goes by, the connection between Fujian and tea has never been changed and is becoming firmer. There are five categories of tea,including Oolong tea, Black tea, White tea, Green tea and Scented tea, which covers a full range of tea and forms regions of Oolong tea in South Fujian, regions of Oolong tea and manifold tea categories in North Fujian ,regions of manifold tea categories in Northeast Fujian as well as regions of green tea in West Fujian.The tea science education in its modern sense in China was firstly launched in Qing Dynasty during the period between the very late 19th century and the early 20th century. Fujian had a long history of planting tea, thus its tea science education started earlier correspondingly. With the tea science education beginning in 1934, the original purpose was to train primary talents to conduct the elementary education in tea science. Later, the education was promoted to be a secondary one and secondary talents were trained. Eventually, higher education in tea science was established and senior talents were cultivated. Nowadays, many colleges and schools set tea science education as a major, which makes the undertaking thriving day by day.My task is to do a research on the seven colleges of tea science education in Fujian province. In the form of referring to materials and designing questionnaires, methods such as document studies, interviews, questionnaires, data statistics, comparative and logic analyses are applied to investigate, analyze and conclude the basic facts, cultivation targets, software and hardware facilities, teacher resources and the current teaching situation for tea science education in secondary vocational colleges, higher vocational colleges and universities. With these efforts, problems are found and suggestions are offered for the reference of these colleges and universities on the teaching conception, cultivation modes, directions for major designs, the curriculum system, comprehensive quality-oriented education , employment guidance and so on. All of these are expected to contribute to the further development of the tea science education in our province, to cultivate more and better specialized application-oriented and high-level talents in tea science and promote the undertaking of tea science in our country. I analyze the teaching advantages for the planned Anxi Tea Science College in Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and look ahead to its influence on the education of tea science in Fujian province.
