Wheat is China and even the world's major food crops ,and 70% of global wheat distributed in arid and semi-arid areas, so drought and water shortage are long-standing worldwide problems.Environmental stresses such as drought, high salinity and low temperature effect are main factors of limiting crop growth and development, and drought stress is a major cause of wheat production. According to statistics, because of natural drought, the global wheat production reduced 10 percent to 20 percent or so.Wheat production has a direct effect on national food security which concerns for world peace and regional stability.Study on the genetic improvement of wheat drought resistance, identifying and selecting the drought resistance germplasm, cultivating wheat water-saving new varieties has both political and far-reaching strategic significance to wheat production levels as well as the food security of our country.The sevens lines of transfer TaEBP Transgenic Wheat, its receptor materials and the local main varieties Xiaoyan 22 was as a standard check. Control the soil water by using the waterproof dry pool. Then determinate the water content of leave, praline accumulation, soluble proteins and other physiological and biochemical indexes about drought resistance during the jointing stage, tassel -flowering stage, filling, and so the critical period of water demand. By analyzing physiological and biochemical indexes about drought resistance, then identify the drought resistance of the Transgenic Wheat, and provide the theoretical basis and method references to breed drought new varieties of wheat. The main results are as follows:1. Under drought stress, both of the leaf relative water content and soluble protein content of all the material after experiment treatment decreased while the proline content increased in different degree.2. The proline content of the transgenic line increased with the drought condition with the drought stress enhanced. In addition, the increase amplitude of the transgenic line'proline content greater than the corresponding receptor control and local check varieties significantly . 3. Based on comprehensive analysis of the physiological and biochemical indexes in the study, the leaf relative water content ,soluble protein content and proline content are the effective physiological indicator of wheat drought resistance under water stress conditions.4. The results on the drought resistance of transgenic wheat lines showed that the drought resistance of transgenic line greater than the corresponding materials very significantly and greater than the local check varieties. This indicated that drought resistance of transgenic line improved obviously. Among the tested materials, transgenic wheat lines 08BC3(+)101 and 08BC3(+)258 has a significant drought resistance, 08BC3 (+) 612, 08BC3 (+) 03 has a good drought resistance.
