Carex lingii Wang et Tang, C. dispalata Boott and C. pruinosa Boott are used as materials in theexperiment, their field habitants, observation of biological and ecological characteristics, stressresistances and reproductive characteristic are investigated in this paper. The results are as follows:Field habitants and landscape application: The field habitants of three Carex species vary fromone another, C. lingii grows in sparse forest or on shade places. And can be used for greeningunderstory, backlight corner, overpasses and other shaded. C. dispalata grows in wetland of roadside, undergrowth, by the stream or pool, which is suitable for water beautification and purification. C.pruinosa grows in tanabe or sparse forest, and could be used as ground cover and mixed lawn.Cold tolerance: Comprehensive evaluation of their cold tolerance has been given on the basis ofsix indexes under the stress of different low temperature: relative conductivity, semilethal temperature,MDA content, SOD activity, POD activity and soluble protein conten. The sequence of resisting tocold stress was ranked as follows: C. dispalata > C. pruinosa > C. lingii.Shade tolerance: Physiological and biochemical indexes indices of Shade tolerance for themwere determined including Chl.a+b, Chl.a/b, relative conductivity, SOD activity, POD activity, soluble protein content under the different shading, the comprehensive appraisal of theirshade-tolerance ability has been made, the order of the ability of shade-tolerance from strong to weakwas: Carex lingii > C. pruinosa > C. dispalata.Drought tolerance: According to the changes of six physiological and biochemical indexes:content of holding water, relative conductivity, soluble protein content, MDA content, SOD activityand POD activity. The comprehensive appraisal of the drought-tolerance ability has been made aboutthree Carex species: C. dispalata > C. pruinosa > C. lingii.Water-logging tolerance: On the basis of relative conductivity, SOD activity, POD activity, soluble protein content and MDA content, the comprehensive appraisal of the Water-loggingTolerancea bility has been made about three Carex species, integrated assessment on water-loggingresistance of three tested lianas is C. dispalata > C. pruinosa > C. lingii.
