Epidemiological Analysis Of Swine Hepatitis E In Jilin City Of Jilin Province

Hepatitis E is an acute infectious disease to people, it is usually caused by Hepatitis E virus (Hepatitis E virus, HEV ).Much of research recently figured out that the swine was probably the intermediate host of Hepatitis E virus, so the epidemical analysis about swine HEV becomes more and more important. The epidemiological survey of swine HEV has become a public health problem for most of the personage inside course of study to concentrate. There still has some data revealed that most part of people closing contact history with swine has the higher risk of infecting to HEV than others ,and the percentage almost closed to 80%. In order to explore the preliminary prevalence of swine HEV in jilin city, we collected 450 serum samples from 9 different region of jilin city in autumn and winter , 2008 separately, using the means of the diagnostic kit for HEV IgG antibody from Beijing Wan-tai pharmaceutical Co. Ltd and indirect ELISA method for swine Hepatitis E from our own laboratory .The results shows that the positive rate was 23.56% and 23.33%. It was proved that swine HEV has already distributed widely in jilin city , therefore the relevant personnel should raise awareness to swine HEV meanwhile pay attention to strengthen the prevention of swine HEV.For the determination deeply to figure out the infection of swine hepatitis E in Jilin region, we collected 160 feces samples aging from 2-6 month from 8 different towns by using the nested reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)method in molecular epidemiology theories. Finally the results of the study show that there were 12 positive samples of 160 pig manure for swine HEV and the positive rate was 7.5%. The statistic results suggests that the infection for swine HEV already exists in part areas of Jilin region, and all of positive samples for swine HEV belong to the gene typeâ…£.The data of this research indicated that infected pigs were the important reservoir and infection source of HEV, therefore,we should concentrate our concerns to public-health in order to defend fecal-oral or food-borne HEV infection.
