In this paper the pollen distribution, the ratio of female-male gametic and genetic gain of half-sib progenies had been studied in Pinus massoniana clone seed orchard of Xiannv Forest Farm in Taizishan in Hubei province. The following were results:There were relatively significant differences among the quantity of male and female flowers. The average number of male flowers is 1009.09 per plant ranging from291.61 to 1549.69; whereas the average number of female flowers is 343.91 per plant, ranging from 135.43 to 636.39 per plant. The ratio of male and female flowers range from 0.14 to 1.07.Dissemination of pine pollen has its own unique diurnal variation and time variation. The pollen dispersal rhythm is affected by climate dramatically. and the pollen dispersal has a rhythm of low-high-low during the whole pollen dispersal period. The cumulative amount of pollen dispersal is 924.09. cm-2.d-1 and 710.57. cm-2.d-1 in 2010 and 2011, respectively. The pollen quantity in space has significant differences among days, and a peak time of 3~5 days usually appears during the whole period. During the peak period, pollen dispersal also has its own regular,that it changed with time for low-high-low, and the peak period usually occurs from 10:00 to 14:00. However, the peak time is impacted by the real-time climatic factors. The peak time was from 02:00 to 08:00 and from 10:00 to 12:00, shedding amount 434.63. cm-2, and 520.26. cm-2 in 2010; while the peak time is from 10:00 to 12:00, shedding amount 481.46. cm-2 in 2011 year. Peak period in different period pollen loose powder quantity has extremely significant difference.The number of pollen in the outside garden decreases with the spread distance, and they showed a linear correlation. Wind speed is an important factor in pine pollen distribution, which is also affected by temperature and humidity, terrain. based on the characteristics of pine pollen distribution, of, we suggest the minimum distance from outside is 600~1000m in order to preven pollent pollution by external pollent.The average yield of a single male pollen has significant differences among Pine clones, the average number of male pollen particles is 16513.33 per anther,3.75×1011 per plant,2.03×1015 all the orchard, respectively. while the average number of ovule is 177 per female fower,60872.07 per plant,3.29×108 all the orchard, respevtively, the proportion of male and female gametes seed orchard is about 1:6.17×106.In the seed orchard, there were extremely significant differences for average length, diameter, number of bud scales, bud scales of length, width, seed number, the number of full, empty grains, astringent grains and grain weight, and the average value is 55.31 mm,28.04 mm,93.98,20.54 mm,11.04 mm,187.97 grains,114.14,26.55,47.28 and 12.5092 g, respectively.1000-seed weight, good traits, empty grain rate etc. has significant differences among the clones.In half-sib family's progeny of pine forest, the differences of diameter at breast height, height, height under branch and crown diameter were extremely significant difference. Heritability of DBH, tree height, individual volume is 0.7405,0.8435 and 0.7506, respectively. When the selection rate of superior families is 30%,8.86%,16.95% and 34.13% can be expected in genetic gains of gain height, diameter and volume, respectively. When selection rate is 20%, the expected genetic gains obtained is 10.70%, 20.46% and 41.23%; when selected was 10%, genetic gains obtained can be expected to 13.37%,25.57% and 51.53%. Using 10% as the best selection rate, in this way, nine excellent half-sib families (47-66#,48-101#,49-108#,90-51#,44-17#,43-79#,89-9#, 51-109# and 95-50#) are selected. |
