In this thesis, Aim to select tree species of high carbon sequestration and low water consumption, carbon sequestration, transpiration and water consumption, water use efficiency of ten greening tree species were studied in both leaf-level and individual-level. Tree species were Cinnamomum camphora, Prunus cerasifera var. atropurea, Sapium sebiferum, Ailanthus altissima, Platycladus orientalis, Taxodium distichum, Pittosporum tobira, Photinia serrulata Lindl, Photinia davidsoniae and Deutzia scabra Thunb. The main results were as follows:(1) The carbon sequestration, water consumption and water use efficiency of leaf-level showed that Sapium sebiferum had high carbon sequestration, high water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Deutzia scabra Thunb and Cinnamomum camphora had low carbon sequestration, low water consumption and low water use efficiency; Taxodium distichum had high carbon sequestration, low water consumption and high water use efficiency; Platycladus orientalis had moderate carbon sequestration, low water consumption and high water use efficiency; Ailanthus altissima had moderate carbon sequestration, high water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Prunus cerasifera var. atropurea had low carbon sequestration, high water consumption and low water use efficiency; Photinia serrulata Lindl.and Photinia davidsoniae had low carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Pittosporum tobira had moderate carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and low water use efficiency.(2) The carbon sequestration, water consumption and water use efficiency of individual-level showed that Ailanthus altissima had moderate carbon sequestration, high water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Taxodium distichum had moderate carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and high water use efficiency; Deutzia scabra Thunb and Cinnamomum camphora had low carbon sequestration, low water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Platycladus orientalis had high carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Sapium sebiferum, Photinia serrulata Lindl.and Pittosporum tobira had moderate carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Photinia davidsoniae had low carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and moderate water use efficiency; Prunus cerasifera var. atropurea had low carbon sequestration, moderate water consumption and low water use efficiency.(3) Effect of temperature reduction and humidity increase of Ailanthus altissima was significantly higher than those of other tree species, effect of temperature reduction and humidity increase of Cinnamomum camphora and Deutzia scabra Thunb was small. Daily energy absorption per unit leaf area ranged from 1790.70kJ.m-2.d-1 to 4519.43kJ.m-2.d-1, and per unit land area ranged from 3713.03kJ.m-2.d-1 to 8188.03kJ.m-2.d-1. Daily temperature reduction per unit leaf area ranged from 0.05℃to 0.2℃,and per unit land area ranged from 0.296℃to 1.448℃.(4)Analysis on Path coefficients of environmental factors and photosynthetically factors of tree species showed that:leaf temperature was the main factor, next came photosynthetically active radiation and atmospheric relative humidity. WUEt was negatively related with intercellular carbon dioxide concentration, and stomatal conductance and soil water content had lower effect on WUEt. Photosynthetically active radiation was positively related with WUEt indirectly through affecting leaf temperature.
