Our country has the greatest stage on shellfish cultivation in the world, and shellfish cultivation in our country plays a very important role. Because there has been serious degradation of germplasm and frequent disease in shellfish cultivation, it is urgently need to cultivate new varieties of scallops, which is grow fast and can resist the terrible environment. Breeding mainly use the choice of productive and economic characters. The traditional breeding method is selective breeding. But the history of shellfish breeding is short, and the genetic background is not clear, the administration is not standardized. If we use the traditional selective breeding, the cycle of shellfish breeding will be a long time. It constrains the development of the shellfish breeding. The best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) appeared in 1970s. It is a animal model based on calculated large-scale data. It is accurate in genetic evaluation, and widely used in the feeding of poultry and livestock. In recent years, it was used in the research of aquatic animal breeding gradually. And it can speed up the process of the cultivation of improved variety.The research and development of the analysis and evaluation system for molluscan genetical breeding was independent in our laboratory. It is software which includes the system of standard traits measuring, which is used for accumulating data; the systems of trait and genetic information database, which is used to admin and query the data; the system of genetic evaluation, which calculates genetic parameters and breeding values in order to make breeding plan. As long as we can connect to the internet, the system can keep and manage any data in shellfish breeding. It can calculated the repetitive capacity, hereditary capacity and breeding values. Users can formulate plans for breeding according to their requirements and settings of the boundaries. This system makes the breeding standardization, high efficiency and automation. It improved the level of shellfish breeding effectively, promoted the process of shellfish breeding and development of shellfish cultivation.The value of the software is reflected through the application. This study mainly researched the application of the analysis and evaluation system for molluscan genetical breeding. First I understood the framework of the system. There were data of the individual information and family information of scallop we had already. We input these data. There were about 3046 scallops with phenotypic information from 29 full-sib families. We attached a label to each Zhikong scallop, and measured the shell height, shell length, shell width, weight. Then we calculated the average, standard deviation, coefficient of variation. The result shows that the coefficient of variation of the body weight (0.30) is highest, whereas the coefficient of variation of the shell height (0.12) is the lowest. We calculated the breeding value of the 3046 scallops. The result shows the breeding value of F030-002, F030-086, F032-030, F064-007 and F064-117 are all in top 50. The phenotypic and genetic correlations between the traits are significant (P<0.01). The highest phenotypic correlations are between shell length and body weight. Besides, shell length and body weight shows the highest genetic correlations, and the coefficient of genetic correlation between the shell height and shell length is near 1. So the result indicated that shell height and shell length are the best traits to select.In this study, we use the application of the analysis and evaluation system for molluscan genetical breeding for data logging, data management, and the estimate of the breeding value and genetic parameter. Though there also need the condition of environment, at the present stage this system have its scientific significance and value in practical application.
