With the development of science and improvement of our daily ilife, quality and reliability of products are becoming more and more important. For high complex products, the cost of design and manufacture is usually very high. If problems or defects of the product were not found until the design is frozen or the prototype has been produced, it will need lots of work and long time to correct them and result in high cost for the manufacturer. This phenomenon has aroused the attention of designers. To avoid this, current designers are trying to remove defects from the early phase of product design other than let be found in the process of manufacturing and application.Based on FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and BFA (Bouncing Failure Analysis) methods, an new design method, NFMEA (Network Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) was developed in this paper. The research focused on the design of high-precision, high-cost and low quantities. NFMEA approach set up the design parameter and the failure by a network failure model and to decouple them by the axiomatic design. The research contents are:(1) Analysis the FMEA approaches at home and abroad, compare their advantages and disadvantages and the benefits of NFMEA.(2) Set up the conception system model of NFMEA by the combination of system element and interface.(3) Analysis the conception system model of NFMEA, get all the FMs and EEs, and position them on the model.(4) Set up the quantitative logical relationship between FMs and EEs.
