| Chewing rail is a common phenomenon that is happened to overheadtravelling crane. It means that when the crane cart is working, there is an anglebetween the actual trajectory and the assumed ideal trajectory. And because ofthe deflection, will cause the friction between rail and guide line componentswhich is refer to the felloe or horizontal guide wheel. This damage oftenreducing the rated useful life greatly and often makes the wheel on the crane orthe rail to scrap early. According to statistics, the useful life of felloe is usuallysix months to one year, and the useful life of wheel tread is usually two to threeyears which is two to six times of the felloe. However, due to the cask effect, theuseful life of the wheel on crane only six months to one year. We can imagine, ifthe useful life of the felloe can be improved, it means that the wheel's life willbe improved too.However, the reason for chewing rail is the guide line components received akind of lateral force which is named horizontal deflection lateral force during thecrane is working. Owing to there are too many reason to cause this horizontaldeflection lateral force, so it's one of the unresolved issues in the study of thecrane's subject.At first, this paper made a preliminary analysis and a summarizes on thereason of chewing rail, such as the design on the ratio between span andsubstrate distance(L/K), the processing, manufacturing, installation about thewheel and rail, which can causing horizontal deflection lateral force.Secondly, this paper made a kinematic analysis about the phenomenon ofskew operation during the crane is working. Specifically to analyze thefollowing situation: focus on drive axle of crane chewing rail by one wheel;drive axle of crane respectively chewing rail by two wheel; and chewing railwhen the lateral forces acting on the wheels which are located on the diagonal ofthe crane or the lateral forces acting on the wheels which are located on the one side of the crane. Then figure out a formula which can calculate the size of thatlateral force. And make comparison with the empirical equation which is ruledby Crane Design Manual.This article describes the calculation method of crane skew lateral force bythe Federal Republic of Germany, Europe, Japan and the former Soviet Union,and made a brief comparative analysis. The calculation method of lateral force ismainly divided into two categories, one is to solve the lateral force in the skewslip hypothesis by German engineers, this method takes into account the specificcharacteristics of the crane operating agencies; and another one is to solve thelateral force by empirical formula.At last, this paper made a summarized about the measures which is oftenused to correct the skew operation. |
