Hoisting machinery is the mechanical equipment that contains a lot of risk factors, and it is one of the typical dangerous machines that are more prone to accidents. Every year, the accidents of the hoisting machinery happened at home and abroad caused huge lost.Large wire rope luffing single jib crane at present are used in each size port, it can load and unload bulk-cargo or standard container according to the different type of slings. But because of different reasons, a lot kinds of safe accidents may occurred during working time, in which the accident caused by luffing system is a major one. So the research of accidents about the luffing system of the large wire rope luffing single jib crane is very important and meanful, it can give guide opinion to future design and prevent the happening of similar accident.The working content of this thesis includes:(1) Introduce the main components the single jib gantry crane and their own structural features. The introduce is mainly about the jib structure and the luffing drive system.(2) Analysis and introduce the categorize the accidents that may occurred on the luffing system of the large wire rope luffing single jib crane, in the most bad situation, the jib of the crane may fall and cause large financial loss and even kill the people working there.(3) Use the knowledge of dynamics to analysis and get the dynamical feature of crane, also get the research strategies and methods about the dynamical problems. Meanwhile, get dynamical analysis of the jib system of gantry crane, creat the dynamical differential equation of jib system by the simplified model.(4) Creat the3D jib model by Solidworks, then change it to XT style that can import to ANSYS/LS-DYNA, and get the jib geometrical model through model optimization. And then mesh the geometrical model to get the jib FEM model.(5) Set the slove configutation of the jib FEM model, suppose the jib begin to fall at two position because of accidents, get the deformation situation and the stress situation after the jib crash the ground.
