Study On Construction Modes And Technical Conditions Of Suburban Railways

The experience of many cities in the world shows that the structure mode of the city with multi centers is not only the common patterns of the rapidly developing cities, but also an important way to relieve the disorderly expansion of the city and the pressure of housing and traffic. Nowadays the cities in our country are developing fast, some of which have entered into the process of suburbanization, and even satellite towns have appeared. The close social and economic ties between the central city and satellite towns rely on the convenient transportation as a necessary. Against this background, this paper will explore the necessity and the feasibility of the suburban railway in passenger exchanging between the central city and its satellite towns, and research on the issues of construction modes, technical conditions and the train planning.Firstly, the paper will demonstrate the important roles the suburban railway played in the form of multi-center cities, taking Japan and Beijing for examples; and from the view of meeting the needs of development of public transport and railway itself, the paper expounds the needs to develop the suburban railway. After that, by proving that plenty passengers of suburban railway traffic will exist, the paper shows the feasibility of the suburban railway in China.Secondly, the paper classifies the modes of development of suburban railway into three categories:using existing lines, modifying existing lines and constructing new lines; and studies in detail on the technical conditions of the existing lines on which the commuter trains run, the specific content required for transformation of the existing lines to run commuter trains, and the relationship among the station spacing of the new suburban line, the running distance and the speed grade of the train.Besides of that, the paper analyzes the combination forms of the suburban railways and the urban rail transit, and briefly lists the typical representatives.Finally, taking the Chengdu junction as an example, the paper analyzes the feasibility of operating the suburban trains on the existing lines, and the determination of time target and average station distribution while constructing new lines.
