Wind turbine tower is an important supporting component, which withstands the impact of a variety of loads on wind turbine operation. The designers rely on experience to design wind turbine tower by 3D or 2D design software in wind power enterprises currently, design and analysis work of tower is large, and reuse rate of tower design is low. Market competitiveness of the enterprise is seriously impacted, and efficiency of the wind turbine design is low. In order to solve this problem, optimization design system of tower is constructed, which is based on analyzing the tower structure and design process.The structure and function modules of the system is discussed, the relation among the subsystem modules such as structure configuration, analysis and optimization, parametric design and output are studied. A general structure model of the tower is build, configuration design method of tower based on GBOM is proposed. The finite element model of tower is established, and the static strength and dynamic characteristic is analyzed, by using the finite element software MSC.Patran. The method used to optimize the tower is given. The parametric design method of tower, based on Pro/E secondary development technology and the Top-Down design method is discussed. The parameter relation model of tower components is established. Based on skeleton and coordinate system coincident method, the automatic assembly of 3D tower model is realized.The finite element analysis of the tower is realized on the basis of the platform of the finite element analysis software MSC.Patran. The parametric design module of the system is carried out by Visual C++6.0 and Pro/E5.0. The system is tested by a certain type of 1.5MW wind turbine tower, and the results show that the application of the system can not only get accurate results, but also improve the design efficiency of the tower, and make a good foundation for future research.
