Asphalt concrete is widely used in various kinds of capital construction. To realize mobility and fast set up of the asphalt mixing plant has great significance to the development of base construction of our country. The special chassis of the semi-trailing in this paper is not only used to realize the mobility, but also used to support the hydraulic cylinder to finish the fast set up of mixing plant in construction site. It has the same feature as normal semi-trailing chassis, like high bearing capacity, high strength requirements, heavy structure, etc. These features lead to the results of high manufacturing cost and low fuel economy. So it is necessary to use lightweight design to reduce the manufacturing cost under the premise of satisfying the static and dynamic characteristics of chassis structure.Firstly, the features of mixing plant are studied. The best material distribution of chassis is calculated by topology optimization method. Secondly, the beam element model of chassis is built based on the best material distribution. The section size of each beam is chosen by analysis result from finite element calculate. Thirdly, the detailed design of chassis is fixed after the consideration of process level and general requirements. Fourthly, the finite element model is build by shell element. The design is verified that it is reasonable by the results of strength analysis and modal analysis.According to the optimization method and solution strategies of this paper, Hypermesh module, Radioss module and Optistruct module of Hyperworks and Pro/e are used to finish the design and analyze. The research has certain theoretical significance and engineering application value to further popularizing the application of CAD/CAE technology and lightweight design in the related chassis manufacturing factory.
