Traveling wave ultrasonic motor is a new kind of motor with characteristics such as high power density, low speed, high torque, no electromagnetic interference, and self-locking. Because of this particular working principle, ultrasonic motors have lots of advantages than compared with traditional electromagnetic motors.At present, our country has grasped the design methods and manufacturing technology of ultrasonic motors. However, compare with theoretical studies, the application of ultrasonic motor technology and large-scale industrial application instance is still lacking. This paper summarizes over recent years both domestic and overseas of the ultrasonic motor applications and development process of research, traveling wave ultrasonic motor design and control experience, analysis of the ultrasonic motor driver in the motor system and designed a new type of motor driver based on a new controller chip. The main work of this research carried out as follows:(1) Summarizes background and significance of the traveling wave ultrasonic motor, summed up the traveling wave type ultrasonic motor development process both domestic and overseas, analysis of the ultrasonic motor system optimization. Sum up the difficulties and problems in the motor system global optimization.(2) From the traveling wave ultrasonic motor stator production process starting to study the stator and the piezoelectric material bonding technology, and through access to a large number of relevant literature and practical testing. Ensure the yield and stability of the motor. Summarizes the motor running problems, optimal design of the motor structure, simplifying the processing and assembly of motor steps for the motor parameters can be fixed after the first assembly, enhance the stability of different motors. By experimental studies to optimize the ratio of traveling-wave ultra-cone wave rotor friction material, make the motor output in stable conditions, combined with the vibration theory. Model and harmonious response analysis of the traveling wave ultrasonic motor stator. (3) Designed a new motor driver based on TI's UCC3895 ultrasonic. It can modify the phase, amplitude and frequency of its output voltages. Compare with the current common wave-type ultrasonic motor driver, it has certain advantages on precision and cost.(4) Summarizes problems of the ultrasonic motor system in the process of debugging, the design of ultrasonic motor designed for the stable control strategy, It is tested by the laboratory prototype control methods, and achieved certain results. And motor control system developed a long time running and effective control methods.
