There are many types of Retaining walls, including the gravity retaining wall, cantilever Retaining Wall, counterfort retaining wall, reinforced retaining wall, chamber retaining wall and so on. Traditional retaining walls is often made of reinforced concrete, its structure is complicated, and consumed many steel and timber. The construction of retaining wall is often in the field, so the transportion of concrete is less convenient and the cost is very high. The reinforced masonry is ease to construction, durability, economy and aesthetics, etc, and reinforced masonry retaining walls is including the gravity block masonry retaining wall, cantilever reinforced masonry retaining walls and reinforced masonry retaining walls and reinforced masonry buttresses retaining walls, we also proposed a new form of retaining wall-reinforced masonry chamber retaining wall (RMC retaining wall). This paper studies as the following:(1) analyzed the reinforced masonry retaining walls, concluded the reasonable height of reinforced masonry retaining walls.(2) Researched and set the parameters of the RMC retaining wall, analyzed the rib length, the height of horizontal cross-section,and rib height ratio of the horizontal section of12-20m RMC retaining wall.concluded the optimal thickness of the front wall, the optimal length of the rib,the optimal height of the horizontal section and the optimal ratio of the rib to height of the horizontal section of12-20m RMC retaining wall.(3) Derivated the coefficient of stresβ^and the coefficient of height β in the compression zone.conclued the boundaries relative depth of compression zone ζh of RMC retaining wall. Analyzed section flexural capacity and its formula of Ⅰ cross-section of reinforced masonry beam under horizontal load when it's taken as a single tendon or double reinforcement.
