With the extensive application of pile foundation, all kinds of detection technologies arise at the historic moment. As the most commonly employed method, low strain reflected wave method is more and more used for pile foundation integrity testing. Compared to others, the method is more simple, economical, practical, rapid, accurate and effective, which won the generally accepted. At present, the method has become more mature in technology. However, there are still many problems to be solved, and many limitations. To make the method be more perfect, from theory analysis to practice, we need much further research and improvemont. This article summarizes low strain reflected wave method much systematacially, and gives more detailed explanations based on an engineering practice. First, based on commonly used ways, it introduces the developing situadion of pile foundation detection technology, and some quality problems easily emerged during testing process. Second, the paper discusses the theoretical basis and detection principle of the method, and expounds its application scope, detection system and related technology, etc. Then in combination with one actual foundation pile test in which the writer actually participated, this paper summarizes every links work content of a complete testing process, including preparation before the test work, acquisition of signal and related notes, data processing and interpretation of the results, and points out the problems between theory and practice, and proposes the corresponding solution. At last, reasonable suggestions are given for testing work issues should be considered.
