With the rapid growth of traffic flow, various traffic and environmental issues are more serious, the intelligent transportation system is urgent to be improved and researched deeply. A more superior traffic flow detection system is needed for data information management of large-scale road system. Microwave radar with strong anti-jaming, high detection accuracy, excellent performance in adverse weather conditions and easy installation and maintenance characteristics, is one of the most important detection methods. This dissertation will research the detection system based on microwave radar.This dissertation firstly introduces the background and the development of traffic detection technology, then determines the overall system implementation based on the overall system and the main technical indicator, analyze the layout of radar detector, the working frequency band, the radar system and the method of detection. Signal processing is an important part of the system. This dissertation designed software and hardware of the signal processing. The hardware circuit contains signal conditioning circuits, A/D sampling circuit, the signal processing circuit and the communication interface circuit and so on. The signal processing module, including clock controlling module, the FFT processing module and DDS module, is designed and simulated by ISE and Modelsim.The last paragraph introduces the process of debugging and analyzes the error influence factors. The process of debugging verifies that the board and the USB interface are working normally.
