Small air compressor is one of the most common tools in people's production and life, and rotary compressors occupy an important share in production field of small air compressors owing to its advantages of small volume, light weight and superior dynamic balance. However, the traditional rotary compressor has long-standing drawbacks of seriously friction, wear and leak. In the final analysis, the main reason lies in greater relative speed and contact in the kinematic pair.This paper introduces a new air compressor which has a parallel-moving piston. The translational structure of scroll compressor is applied to the traditional rotary compressor, so the piston's rotation movement is transformed into parallel translational motion, and the working method of traditional rotary compressor is converted. The advantages of translational piston compressor are more obviously, such as the speed of relative movement between the vane and cylinder, piston and cylinder are reduced; the contact force between vane and piston is lowered; the sliding distance of vane relative to cylinder is substantially reduced. In addition, the vane's shape of the traditional rotary compressor has been changed in new type translational piston compressor. The original line contact is altered to surface contact which seals better and reaches the purpose of reducing the friction.The chief points of this paper are as follows:1) The main designing points of the new type translational piston air compressor are shown, and design of the parallel device is discussed. According to the design parameters, cylinder volume is calculated, suction cavity and discharge cavity volume and gas pressure of compression chamber is deduced at any time. Kinematics model of the vane and piston is established, and their kinematics parameters are gotten theoretically.2) The kinematics and dynamics ananlysis of the new type translational piston air compressor are finished with the aid of ADAMS. Through comparing contact force between vane and piston, superiority of the new translational piston air compressor is confirmed;3) The structure statics analysis of air compressor model is finished by using ANSYS, the stress nephogram of components and parts are gotten, and guidance is provided for trial-produce of the new type translational piston air compressor. Finally, Feasibility of the new type translational piston air compressor is proved in the working principle by experimental comparison, and it's more superior in performance.
