As a practical decision-making method which applies the qualitative and quantitative analysis, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is widely used in society, economy etc. The AHP theory and method research has made great achievements since it has been proposed by Saaty in 1970s. However, due to the complexity of the decision-making problems, some theoretic problems must to be solved further, and it is found that there are some disadvantages in the existing methods. So it is necessary to put forward new methods.Based on widespread reading and analysis of available literatures, viewing on previous abundant researches, taking information of decision maker as the breakthrough point, the problem of how to decide the priority weights of AHP is proposed in the thesis. The research contents and the main results are given as follows:(1) Based on the research of the relationship between the consistent positive reciprocal comparison matrices and their priority weights, some disadvantages of the existing methods of deciding the priority weights are pointed out. Then, for the problems of determining the priority weights with parameter, a new parameter method is proposed to determine the priority weights with parameter according to the decision makers'preferences.(2) Based on the research of the relationship between the linguistic comparis-on matrices and their priority weights, a new consistent definition of the linguistic comparison matrix and a transformation formula for it are given. Then, a new relationship with parameter between the linguistic comparison matrices' elements and their priority weights is proposed. Based on the relationship, it is known that different priority weight vectors can be obtained even if for the same consistent linguistic comparison matrix. And then, a method is proposed to determine the priority weights with the decision makers' preferences. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.
