The material bamboo has a long application history in China, which has a deep emotional basis and cultural heritage. But nowadays the designers are lack of the innovation in the technical dimension, their minds is limited by the old methods, and they don't give long-term vitality to this material, who have few highlights and breakthroughs, so bamboo don't present its own value in this society. The material is in a gap in the sustainable development of high technology and new technique. It is urgent and necessary to research bamboo's future development road.This essay selects Markus Heinsdorff's bamboo architecture-"German-Chinese House"in Shanghai World Expo as the main research object, which analyses the high-tech solutions and technical innovations'breakthroughs in the progress of construction and discusses the application rules of bamboo in the new architectures. Markus is an installation artist from German, who has worked on the feasibility study of bamboo for many years in Asia. He constantly strives to the research and innovation of bamboo, and has outstanding contribution in the field of bamboo architecture. He fills in the gaps of the applications of the material, and enhances the value of bamboo. He leads the trend of the construction and research of bamboo architecture in the worldwide, and guides the applications of the traditional bamboo material in the new architecture filed. Markus'bamboo architecture subverts the traditional construction ways and changes the everduring image of bamboo material. Markus makes the research of bamboo architecture reach a new level by putting it into a modern environment completely.This paper integrated bamboo buildings at home and abroad, analyzed the inherent and extended attributes of bamboo material, through the discussion, summarization and analyses of bamboo material, it illustrated its great application value on multiple levels. Traditional bamboo material should be combined with high-technology to overcome weak points and make full use of strong points, which is to make the most value and extend the faulting layer to get a sustainable development. Bamboo Material Design will be the inevitable trend and the unique right direction with the development of bamboo material in new technical, fashionable and innovative area.
