Flowmeter is used in a variety of industries, and it plays a very important role in many fields such as the industry and people's livelihood. The measurement principle of ultrasonic flowmeter is that ultrasonic carries flow velocity information after entering the flow and it has characteristics of simple structure and good adaptability. This paper presents a solution using ARM embedded system as a mean to process data, and solves the problem of flow measurement and real-time data processing better.The system hardware architecture is divided into the following parts:an ARM-based core control part is mainly responsible for controlling the measurement process and data filtering and computing; ultrasonic transceiver circuit based on TDC-GP21 completes the transmitting and receiving of ultrasonic signal; an CPLD-based control circuit mainly completes the formation and detection of the specific pulse signal and sends out the timing signal accurately; time difference measurement circuit is responsible for the accurate calculation of the time difference; menu display and communication module is designed for interactive interface and communication between the various modules respectively.This paper focuses on the program to improve the accuracy of flow measurement and analysis and simulation of data processing algorithm used in the system. After adopting the EMD algorithm for data processing, the results have been relatively stable. The main feature of design is using high-performance ARM processor in flow measurement. It simplifies the hardware circuit design, reduces development cost and improves the computing accuracy. By using Linux 2.6, on one hand, it is easy to realize complex DSP algorithms; on the other hand, it can provide friendly interactive interface and makes the operation simple. After repeated tests, this system works stably with high accuracy and it will have a good prospect in flow measurement.
